Frequently asked questions

What do we need to use SOMELO?

A computer, tablet or smartphone with a web browser and an internet connection. There is nothing to install and no special hardware.

Do parents pay anything to use SOMELO?

No. The school pays the subscription. Fees that parents pay through SOMELO go to the school’s own accounts, never to SOMELO.

Which payment methods are supported?

MTN MoMo and Airtel Money in Uganda, and bank payments with a reference the bursar can match. Every payment produces a receipt.

How do teachers and parents get access?

The school invites them. People with a phone number but no email get a link the school can share with them directly, for example on WhatsApp.

Who can see pupils’ information?

Only people at the school with the right role, and each parent for their own children. Sensitive records such as medical notes have tighter rules, and every sensitive action is logged.

Can we take our records with us?

Yes. The school can export its records at any time as CSV, Excel or PDF.
